Yes, but it's easier just to change the language option to English in Control Panel.

yes you can. but did u know u could change the language and the currency/time etc in windows vista? http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-CA/help/2bac0e03-c331-48fc-8b7e-b66b8007512d1033.mspx http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-CA/Help/35a1b021-d96c-49a5-8d8f-5e9d64ab5ecc1033.mspx

Yes, any kind of computer set coming from any countries can be installed with any version/language of operating system. Operating systems are made with different languages. Settings of computers on global languages cannot change totally the language version of the computer but will change some features using language settings. In order to be able to change into English version, you need the English vista installer CD. You can have it by buying the OEM or to a licensed market for a licensed software. Getting some trial for english Vista can also be availabe and have some 30~60 days trial to purchase for the licensed upgrade. However, some provides unlicensed that will work good. hope this will work. God Bless

Cheaper to send laptop from US to Germany or but using German online site

Cheaper to send laptop from US to Germany or but using German online site?
Need to buy a laptop for a loved one in Berlin. Would it be cheaper for me to buy one locally at bestbuy for $450-500 and ship it for $130-150 or would it be best to order one online from a German site? If the diff is $100 I think it's prob best to have everything in German right? Thanks

It seems cheaper to send a laptop from US to Germany as Laptops are expensive here...but you should check German websites first. You could try US DELL website first and then German DELL website to see the difference. Think a laptop that costs $500 in US costs in Germany €500 but €500 are $740!
2 :
You should make sure that your American bought laptop will work in Germany (220V) if not you have to buy and additional transformer or whatever, just include this thought in your calculation. And check this out, it's a German shop to buy laptops (Notebook) so you can make a comparison to what you want to buy http://www.vobis.com/shop/mode=catTree/cat=114

Don't forget you will be losing money on the conversion rate alone if you buy it in Euro's. I'm guessing it is cheaper to send it from the U.S.
4 :
Do not forget the customs and import taxes. I can tell you that laptops are customs free (Zollbefreit) but you have to pay 19% Import Taxes when the laptop arrives Germany. So better buy in Germany, as you'll have 2 years guarantee by law and the best service in the world. If you need English O/S and English qwerty Keyboard, you can easily demand this in your inquiry. Sony Germany for example does it, costs 50EUR more, but you'll have English

Using my American laptop in Germany

Using my American laptop in Germany?
I'm studying abroad for a year in Germany and need to know what I need to do to prepare for using my laptop in Europe. This covers how I will power it to how I will connect to the internet. I am very clueless on this issue so any help will be greatly appreciated, especially help that comes from people with EXPERIENCE.

while i dont have any experience,i do know you may need a different ac adapter cord because europe uses a different outlet than the american 3 head one. I dont know what else you need to change if anything. You could change the clock setting and the country setting too
2 :
your laptop should be dual voltage. check the power cord for something that says 100-240 on it. Next depending where you will be at in germany will depend on how you will connect to the internet. make sure you have a dial up modem, wireless card, and lan port and you will be fine. lived in germany for 3.5 years with isdn and only needed a lan card. http://bitsandbytescomputers.sytes.net

Like the person above me said make sure your laptop is dual voltage. That means it works for 110 volts(which is what is used for all the plugs in America) and 220 volts(Europe). Looks at the tab on your charger and see if it says 110V-220V. If so then you just need a plug adapter because 220 plugs are a different shape. The kind with 2 small circular holes on it. Make sure it's dual voltage, cause if you just get an adapter for something 110V to plug into a 220V your laptop will overheat, smoke up and break! If your laptop is only 110V then you need a transformer, it's a heavy box used to convert the voltage and can sometimes be expensive. If you plan using your laptop only in one place(not taking it with you when you travel) then I recommend a transformer. But if you plan to take it with you when you travel around Europe and it's only 110V and need a transformer, don't bother unless you can find a light weight small transformer(make sure it's powerful enough to convert your laptop) internet is DSL check out T Mobile(they are the biggest communication company in Germany for cell phones and the internet). btw cell phone contracts/plans are expensive but you don't get charged for receiving a phone call

I want to sell a 100% new laptop in Berlin, Germany?
Hi guys, My boyfriend bought this laptop (100% new) and the online shopping company sent to me via post with Receipt. However, I still have my own laptop and it's also new, now I want to sell it, where I can get a nice shop to sell in Berlin, Germany? Is there any shops like this in here? Thanks Craiglists & Ebay: I got a lot of scammers from both of that sites. Any real shops in Berlin?

Craiglist and eBay are your friends all around the world. Add'l: Yeah, there are scammers there, but your best bet is still to use them and only sell local and for cash. If you sell to a shop, rather than direct, then you'll instantly lose half of your selling price to the resellers mark-up.
