Yes, either you or the sender will have to pay for customs

As you already know taxes and death are the only things certain in life. but there are a few steps you can take to minimize risk of overpaying customs duties. 1) If the items is used, declared a fair market value for it (see ebay for ideas on how much your used laptop is worth) 2) If the computer is broken, the value is lessened even more. Make sure the shipper clearly indicates that the item is broken and coming in for repairs 3) if you left the computer behind while traveling, you can declared it as unaccompanied luggage and declare no value 4) Typically US customs allows you to bring items for personal use without paying taxes- around $500. I hope this helps and good luck

What do I need to take my laptop to Iraq

What do I need to take my laptop to Iraq?
I am going what is called down range, meaning I'm going with the miltary too one of those countries. What do I need to do to be able to take my laptop with me and for me to be able to email my wife who is in Germany?

LOTS OF GAMES YES!!!! but seriously, just make sure you can connect to internet wirelessly and just in case get an extra long ethernet cord just incase no one has wireless =DD oh and a phone cord, iono what they got in iraq
2 :
you'll want a protective case obviously, as it will be in harsh conditions. If you want to email your wife, you'll need a 3G card. Go to a vodafone store or whatever, and ask for a 3g card on their network. Also make sure this network WORKS IN THE CONTRY your going to. You'll be set on a quite expencive pay monthly tarrif. but a 3g card enables you to go onto the internet almost anywhere in the world. A 3G CARD WORKS BY CONNECTING TO A SATTALITE AND GATHERING INFO. It will take a bit longer than the normal wifi speeds, but if you think about it thats amazing. a signal going into outerspace and coming back to you again in this time is incredible. i have one of these 3g cards for work, as i go around the UK alot and need access to the internet.

There might be times and places where you will have no internet access. To prepare for this you should download a lot of porno before you leave so you'll have something during the down times.
4 :
You will need the basics of electricity and a consistent supply of it. Military bases should not be a problem. You might need either a GSM or satellite connection card. The only way to email is through wireless connection. A 3G card also works well. (Just take an iPhone!) Some of those countries still use Dial up as a primary way to connect to the internet. For the same reason a router or modem will be useless as ethernet does not have a place in the country yet. I have lived in the Middle East before. Sincerely and best of luck.
5 :
Invest in a 3g wireless broadband card. Ask about international coverage before you buy. This is essentially like buying a cell phone for your laptop, which means anywhere you can get a cell phone signal, you will be able to get online. As a tech who is constantly cleaning Iraq out of laptops, I would also invest in a few cans of canned air, to keep your processor fan and cooling fins clean. Don't just blow air through the fan either. Blow it back toward the fan as well from the exhaust side. Do this a few times, back and forth... every few weeks or so. You will occasionally be able to get online where you get stationed, as plenty of Marines from Camp Lejeune here often bring their laptops i for servicing after they get back... and they were online while there. However, make sure you have a good Anti-virus like AVG 8.0 as well as good spyware cleaning tools like Malwarebytes and Spybot Search & Destroy. As the guy who ends up cleaning the infections as well as the sand out, the better your protection going over, the less likely you are to bring problems home with you. Also.. be forewarned. Don't be sharing Thumbdrives with others. This is another way that people were passing infections from computer to computer. Also, don't get caught up in the cheap software/DVD craze going on over there. It is relatively well known that a great number of the cheap DVDs are preloaded with spyware/malware/virus infections/rootkits. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/09/AR2008050902548_pf.html Read up. If a deal seems too good to be true, it most likely is

What will Final Fantasy XIV requirements to play on the PC might be?
I was looking at the demo they had in germany, it does not look like anything out of the ordinary. Any guesses on the system requirements? I have a 2.8Ghz laptop and I was wondering if it will be able to run it.

you would need a dedicated video card....on board will not cut it.
2 :
Look at PS3's specs and consider it the bare minimum
