Maybe you should try turning it on there suppose to be something that pops up on the top of your screen that says Video web camera click that and then click the tool which is settings and look in that and see if your settings is ok then click it again and click start camera if it doesn't come on then click the question mark. Hope i helped. Or you can Click the webcam icon on the conversation if you dont see it ,open messenger and click options where your sign in name is then you will see a box come up saying Personal layout sign in messeges etc On that same page make sure something is ticked that says allow others to see that i have a webcam

What to do when taking a laptop abroad

What to do when taking a laptop abroad?
I'm traveling to Germany to study abroad and I'm concerned about powering my laptop. I don't know whether I need to purchase a converter or if just a plug adapter would work. If you have any suggestions/advice I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Yeah, your going to need a converter. You should be able to get on at your computer's manufacturer's website. If not just do a search for laptop power converter.
2 :
you might contact the place you are staying at, and let them know you will need to use a converter to power up you US laptop, they probably can assist. They may have one for you to use. I was stationed in Germany while in the air force and we had them . most of use bought them from someone who was leaving and returning to the states.

What you should do is find a replacement power cable that works in Germany. Contact the laptop's manufacturer to find out how to obtain one (they'll probably sell you one). You do not want to use a power converter because those often churn out very "dirty" power. Especially the cheap ones. What you would be doing is taking one frequency of AC power and converting it to a different AC frequency, then you'd be converting that to DC. You should just skip the "middle man" (the American(?) AC power) and go directly from German AC to DC. If you cannot get a European power cord from the manufacturer, then invest in a UPS (uninterpretable power supply). You can then plug your laptop into that and then plug that into a power converter. The UPS will clean the power provided from the converter and give you good old American AC power out the other end. It's not an ideal solution, but it's far less likely to mess up your laptop

I am from india and i have a laptop, i want to buy one more in germany, can i carry these back without duty?

Legally, you have to declare everything you buy abroad and bring back. Of course, no one does. So, it is up to you. If you get caught, I am sure that the duty will be higher than if you declared up front.
2 :
If you bring it in a Carry Case and say it is used, no Customs Duty is payable. If you bring it in its original carton with thermocole packing, then may be you have to pay a small amount as Customs Duty. The worst thing about buying gadgets abroad is you don't get good after-sales-service. Almost all brands of laptops are sold in India at competitive rates.

You can easily get away with doing so. I've traveled internationally with up to three laptops without a problem other than a sore shoulder. I've even carried a desktop workstation in the form of a shuttlebox into Brazil once, I tried to declare it but they asked me if it would leave the country which of course it would eventually so I said yes, they tore up my declaration, brought out a blank one, had me sign it and I was on my way. A taxi driver in Rio suggested that I bring laptops for him to sell on my trips. It was very tempting as one laptop could subsidize a personal trip quite effectively. The importation tax on technological goods is 95% in that country. That same taxi driver offered to set me up with young college girls in need of tuition money, obviously that would negate the subsidy very quickly. Note this was after about ten trips to Rio so it isn't like a shady driver from the airport but it was one of the black town cars at the hotel. I have no doubt that he was serious about the possible arrangements. Of course, I never did it, mostly because my work in Rio was wrapping up. I wonder if I would've tried it just once... hmmmm... college girls.

Laptop battery problem, idk? I came to germany

Laptop battery problem, idk? I came to germany?

Batteries are batteries no matter where you go. Having plugged in your laptop without the converter damaged the computer itself, not the battery. If it's like what happened to me once, just the screen burned out but the comp still runs fine. If that applies to you, it's an easy fix at any computer store, although it's possible there's more damage than just the screen (the part you're looking at is the screen inverter cable). Just FYI, I've had a laptop repaired for the screen like 3 times, and each time for like a month it would work great but then would mess up again. So, idk if you want to waste with repairs like that since the damage is possibly throughout the motherboard.
2 :
Most laptop AC adapters can handle both European and American voltages without a converter. They're built for travel. So I don't think charging it in Germany is the source of your problem. What are the symptoms? There's no clue in your question.
3 :
What could have happened is the voltage was different than that of the US and it short circuited the laptop. Try to remove the battery, USBs, and charger from the laptop and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then try again. If that doesn't work then it could be an internal issue. I would suggest you take it to a local computer repair store to have them look at it. Good luck
