You would never want to check in your laptop. If you want to take it then only as handluggage. Otherwise it will never make it to your destination in one piece.
2 :
*Free* internet hot spots are few & far between in Germany. There are plenty of WiFi spots, but you usually have to have an account or use a credit card for X number of minutes

I do not know the kind of plug and the current of India, so I do not know whether you need an adaptor. In Germany they use 230 volt and a plug with two round prongs, like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ef/Schuko_plug_and_socket.png You can also use an 'europlug' like the one on this page: http://www.tuxgraphics.org/electronics/powersockets/ Most laptops can handle both 110 and 230 volt, but do double check, if yours can not and you have 110 at home, you will need a convertor. It will be mentioned on the laptop, or on its plug, or its little box somewhere on the power cord

Check your power supply to see if it switches automatically to the different voltages/cycles in different countries. If it does, the computer will work fine.
2 :
Call Your internet provider. And for the adaptor go to the electronics stora and get yourself a converter. But make sure it is o.k. to use for your computer. Wireless internet should work.
3 :
Actually the only issue you will have there is that they use 220V power plugs there and yours is set only for 110V North American standard (different size/shape & power rating). Get yourself a 220V - 110V power plug converter, and everything else should be ok then.
4 :
Shouldn't be a problem, but you'll probably need a travel power adapter as European Voltage and plugs are different from US.

Here is the deal: Americans use 110 volts, Germans use 220 volts. And the shape of the outlets are VERY different. There is no way you will get an American plug into a German outlet. And even if you did.........BOOM!! You appliance will fry. Some appliances are made with dual voltage. That means all you need is a $1 adapter, and you can plug it right in. But 99% of appliances need what is called a power converter box. You can buy them on any American Military Base in Germany, or get one before you go there. I can guarantee that you laptop does NOT have dual voltage, so DONT plug it in without a power converter. The down side is that they are pretty expensive ($50 for a small one), and you can only plug one thing into them. What we did was get one of those cords with the multiple outlets on them (like a surge protecter), and plug that into the converter box. That way you can use the box for more than 1 thing. But dont plug in more than 3 things, or you could overload the box and blow the fuse. Its VERY easy to replace the fuse(every BX/PX carries them at the checkout counters), but you dont want to keep replacing them. Best of luck!! Contact me if you have any more questions
