Will I be able to connect my laptop in Germany?
I was told the power plugs there are different than in the US.

Yes, Europe uses a 220 volt system, you'll need to go to Radioshack and ask for a "220 to 110 converter"

Electricity in Germany is 230 Volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second. If you travel to Germany with a device that does not accept 230 Volts at 50 Hertz, you will need a voltage converter. If your laptop plug has a different shape, you may need a plug adapter. Outlets in Germany generally accept 1 type of plug:Two round pins like show this pic http://treehouse.ofb.net/go/sites/all/modules/electric/outlet-type-b.png

Check your laptop; most of them are dual voltage, which means you would only need a plug adapter. If it's not dual voltage, you'll need a plug adapter and voltage converter (220-110).

You probably heard right. Power plug converters compatible with European and other Countries can be purchased at your local computer stores. best of luck
