There are plug in chargers available for iPods. Usually one comes with it. Charge it up during your layover, most airports will have some plug-in's somewhere for laptop users. Make sure you have travel adapters for the outlets in Germany, though. That's your only possibility. Airliners don't have a place for you to plug in.

you can't. some airlines have seat adapters for chargers if you're flying first or business class. Ipod battery can probably last up to 10 hours if ur just playing music and ahve your backlight turned off. Don't watch videos or play games or it will die very quickly. You're not going to be listening to music for 13 hours straight are you? Read a book!

Remember though, that you need to have multiple plugs - not all countries have the same power plugs (and wattage) Eco geek does not a solar one, but I don't know if it will work with non-sunlight. http://www.ecogeekliving.com/universalsolarcharger.html?productid=universalsolarcharger&channelid=FROOG That is one of the problems with ipods vs old fashioned cassette players - you can't replace the batteries! (eta - I always listen while I am doing something else - reading, writing, playing a game.... listening to my ipod doesn't mean it's all I'm doing!)
